I wanted to inform you that the Coalition for Opportun= ity has had a bill introduction on the State Use Law changes that it has propos= ed and I hope that you can e-mail the information out to the KASBO members.

A meeting was well attended in January with several representatives for USD's attending with representatives of the Coalition= in Topeka, and we ap= preciate your assistance and their contributions, but the substance of the proposal = has not changed. USD's and the State are required t= o buy the products without regard for cost or quality and waivers will only be granted by the vendors when the quantities are not available within the nee= ded timeframe. USD's with issues regarding cost, qu= ality or any other issue are encouraged to testify.

= The hearing has been scheduled on HB 2228 on Feb. 17, 2005, General Government = and Commerce Budget Committee, at 1:30 PM Room 234-N= in the Capitol.
