KASBO Membership

Why should I join KASBO? That was a question I asked seven years ago when I was approached by others in our business office after accepting my first job in the world of school business management. What could KASBO do for me?

I was very quickly indoctrinated by long-term KASBO members with the many advantages and benefits of KASBO membership. First, there are the conventions and workshops. The fun, the camaraderie, the vendors, the chance to network with others in our profession. The opportunity to develop lasting friendships.

Other benefits include the chance to be affiliated with ASBO and be a part of a national and international group of people working to accomplish the same purpose, receiving newsletters and other publications from KASBO and ASBO, and being part of an organization that carries influence with state and national leaders.

To be certain, all of the above have proven to be benefits that have served me well professionally and personally. But of even greater benefit are the opportunities KASBO provides for me to serve the educational profession. I have the opportunity to serve on committees within KASBO and affiliate organizations, to give input on workshops and convention, to influence legislative platforms and to mold the future of public education in our state and nation. I have had the privilege to serve on the board of directors as a leader of our organization. All of us have different gifts and talents. While all of us may not choose leadership roles, we all have the chance to be involved in some way to better our profession and improve the educational opportunities for children. I urge you to join KASBO and find your niche in this great organization.
