Another new school year is about to begin. Soon the staff and students will be returning. Magically, the buildings have been cleaned, repairs made, new budgets have been built, staff hired, contracts drawn up, negotiations are complete (for most I hope), bills have been paid, paychecks have been delivered on time and all the other things that keep a district running and I still get questioned every year “ Gee, do you work in the summer?“ As we know the KASBO membership is the backbone that keeps the schools in Kansas operating smoothly. I believe that KASBO helps us to keep this large machine running by keeping us current on pressing issues and building relationships with our peers from around the state that share many of the same problems and issues we face on a day to day basis. As your new president I would welcome and encourage any input from the membership. Just as in the quote it takes an entire village to educate a child; it also takes the whole membership to keep this organization running. Please help provide the organization input with the current issues that need to be addressed at our workshops and convention. We will do our best to get presenters for the issues. I would specifically like your opinion on this newsletter. Should we offer the newsletter in an online format only, hard copy only or both? Please let me know how you feel. The KASBO executive board recently had a goal-setting workday with John Musso, the executive director of ASBO in Salina where a lot of good information was gathered. With Fred’s leadership we came up with some new goals that I believe will help us with decision making in the future. Thank you for your confidence in me to be your president for the coming year. Have a good rest of the summer break and may your start of school is smooth sailing Clifford Burk
